About Lewis Carrol (1832 - 1898)

Pseydonym of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson - Lewis Carrol was the author of two immortal children books. "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass" As a person, he was as mysterious, paradoxical, and witty as his characters and nonsensical verses.

Born the eldest of eleven children, he showed an early aptitude for writing and edited his own magazines to entertain the family. He was educated at Rugby soon after the school had been re-organized under Dr. Arnold, and then at Christ Church, Oxford. He became mathematical lecturer at the same college from 1855 until his retirement in 1881. He was ordained a clergyman in 1861, but held no benefice and rarely preached

Carroll was born on January 27, 1838 and died on January 14,1898. In the 66 years of his life, he has written more than 10 books.
